Tempting food and drink in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.The peninsula formed by Lake Ontario and Lake Erie and the Niagara River has one of the mildest climates in Canada.  As a result, the landscape is overflowing with fruit farms and vineyards.  The area is one of Canada's top wine-producing regions, including the Niagara speciality of ice wine - harvested in December or January.  Many of the larger vineyards and wineries in the area offer fine cuisine or live music to attract travellers to their estate tours.

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario is one of Canada's prettiest towns.The colonial village of Niagara-on-the-Lake has many shops and 19th-century buildings.  Those along with its many inns and B&Bs might constitute an attractive tourist destination, but the village is also home to the Shaw Festival, a permanent theatre company (in three large theatres) that presents ten or more plays annually by George Bernard Shaw or his contemporaries.
