The UOVGG [the group] was formed in January 1990 as a non-profit organization to foster the study of the genealogy of the families who live or lived in the Upper Ottawa Valley in Renfrew and Pontiac Counties. The objectives of the group are: To collect and preserve genealogical and historical records, family charts, pedigree charts, and histories covering the Upper Ottawa Valley (Renfrew and Pontiac Counties); To encourage members to use the resources of our genealogical library; and to share information with other members and others interested in family history. Current projects and activities include; transcribing cemetery and census records, supporting efforts to release the 1911 and future Census records and developing our library and research centre. Library and research facilities are located in the Lower Level of the Masonic Lodge at 222 Dickson St, (corner of Dickson St. and Maple Avenue). We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays 1pm to 4pm and the 3rd Saturday of the month 1pm to 4pm or by appointment.
