The CTHS is a non-profit, volunteer and community-based organization. The members are a dedicated group of people who want to preserve Cumberland Township History. Besides history they share a common interest in genealogy and archaeology. Since the spring of 1999, the CTHS organizes an historical / heritage walking tours in the various communities ( Cumberland, Navan, Vars, etc.). These walks provide a glimpse on local history of pioneers, industrialist, merchants and famous people residents. The tour also describes the architectural heritage of Cumberland's Township past. Since the fall of 1998, the CTHS organizes an annual genealogical workshops for beginners. The three-hour bilingual workshops are usually intended for beginners. These are usually held on a weekend. The volunteer instructor provides techniques and hints on where to find information and how to do genealogical research. A computer demonstration is also held.
