LOWER BEVERIDGES LOCKSTATION Beveridges Lockstation links the Rideau system with the Tay Canal. The Tay lock chambers differed from those on the Rideau Canal in that they were built of wood, not stone. In 1882 a report was submitted to the government, suggesting a new route for the Tay Canal a canal cut would be made from Beveridge Bay on Lower Rideau Lake through a swamp to the Tay River. For a time, the new channel connecting the Rideau with the Tay River was called "Haggart's Ditch." Lockstation services: boat launch, parking, charts and permit sales, on-site identification, picnic areas, day use docking, boater camping and overnight mooring. Swimming, fishing and boat watching are here.
