A key battle in the War of 1812 was fought here. British, Mohawk and Colonial Allies fought American forces. The vastly outnumbered defenders took the day. Crysler's Farm Battlefield is a National Historic site located along the St. Lawrence River in South Dundas Township. It is now part of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission and is immediately adjacent to Upper Canada Village, about 12 km. (seven miles) east of Morrisburg. The granite memorial lies atop a knoll overlooking Lake St. Lawrence on the south end of Crysler Park and it is flanked by a pair of 24-pounder cannon. At the base of the mound is the Battlefield Memorial Building, housing a mural of the battle climax, an audio-visual presentation and artifacts from this historic engagement.
