The original building erected in 1843 as a convent and boarding school burned down in 1900. The present building, constructed in 1906, became a Heritage Building in 1978 and is now the headquarters of Cornwall Township Historical Society and contains a branch of the S.D. & G. County Library. The centre houses an exhibit and artifacts depicting life during the turn of the century. It features pioneer artifacts, a classroom section and cheese factory items.
