This building is the oldest surviving military building in the Province of Ontario. It was built in 1810 by Loyalist Major Edward Jessup and was used during the War of 1812 as a soldiers' barracks and military hospital to nearby Fort Wellington. Today, the carefully restored Stockade Barracks, with its cellar kitchen and large cooking fireplace, bake oven and provision store, heritage dining room and military atmosphere is a unique restaurant serving authentic cuisine and seasonal dishes.
