The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) was formed in December 1964. We have jurisdiction over 3506 sq. km of land along the eastern part of Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River and the Rideau Lakes area. We serve the communities of Kingston, Brockville, Gananoque, Napanee, Newboro and the surrounding rural areas. The CRCA owns over 4000 hectares of conservation land including forests, wetlands, trails, boat ramps and conservation areas.
We have 6 developed conservation areas: Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area (Kingston); Lemoine Point Conservation Area (Kingston); Parrott's Bay Conservation Area (Amherstview-Bath); Gould Lake Conservation Area (Sydenham); Lyn Valley Conservation Area (Lyn); and Mac Johnson Wildlife Area (Brockville). We also own the Cataraqui Trail, a 104 km multi-use trail which goes from Smiths Falls to Strathcona.
