JONES FALLS LOCKSTATION The construction of the Jones Falls Lockstation was one of the largest engineering feats during the creation of the Rideau Canal. Contractors had to overcome a series of rapids 1.6 km long with a fall over 18 metres. Work at Jones Falls began in 1827 and was completed in 1832. Lockstation services: barbecues, parking, charts and permit sales, on-site identification, landscaped grounds, and an indoor exhibit. Guided tours are available for groups. Visit the blacksmith shop, defensible lockmaster's house, stone arch dam, and visitor centre. Swimming, fishing and boat watching are some of the activities to be enjoyed here.
